Hi. We are Pat and Rose Mary Richardson. We have been growing peach trees here on our place in Brittany, LA, since 1988. In 1992, we planted the first trees in the Ferguson Peach Orchard. We have worked with many people involved with the peach industry over the last twenty years or so. We have tried a lot of things and developed a few ideas that can help you successfully grow peach trees on your property.
Generally speaking, there are no short cuts when you want to grow peach trees. You have to qualify your space, soil, drainage, sun light and time commitment. Once these issues are dealt with individually, and all meet the minimum recommendations, you are ready to start.
Rose Mary and I will give assistance where we can to help make your endeavor as successful as possible. We can answer questions, give suggestions, maybe make on sight visits and aid in other ways if possible.
Under the “resource” section of our blog, you will find that we have a booklet that is available for you to purchase at a nominal cost that will walk you through a step-by-step process for growing peach trees. They are difficult to grow, but worth the effort.
