An update on the “replanted orchard”

As you may be aware, the orchard was replanted in February.  We posted a picture of the newly planted trees at that time. Below are a couple of pictures of the trees 4 week later. 



Currently, the trees are at the 6 month point.  As you will notice, they have done pretty well so far.  Most of them have attained a height of about 6 feet (some are actually over 8 feet high).  We had to water them weekly for about 2 ½ months because of the drought this spring.
We picked about 500 pounds of peaches off of a few adult trees that were small replants when the original orchard was “bulldozed”.  Next year, assuming the elements cooperate, we should be able to pick about 1500 pounds of peaches.  The following spring, we anticipate opening the orchard to public sales.  We will have periodic updates on this blog to keep you up to speed as to what is going on with the orchard.
